Step 1 - Preparing for and Moving through Separation

WHAT OUR FAMILY LAWYER NEEDS YOU TO KNOW

Years ago, as a litigation lawyer, I bought a print of the cover of the book The Art of War by Sun Tzu.  At the time it made sense.  I was a good litigator and produced client desired results.  I understood what it took to get to the heart of the evidence quickly, apply it to the law, and negotiate an outcome.

Bang. Done. But … I evolved. I grew to see a strategic defeat of your opponent is wrong when we're talking about separating families.

Separating families need to be protected. They’re hurting. Their family unit is in jeopardy from not only being split into separate homes but of being totally destroyed in the process. And the source of that destruction is the very people separating families traditionally rely on for information and advice—family lawyers.

The best thing any lawyer can do for a separating family is provide compassionate support and practical advice aligned to achieving a low-conflict, solution-focused separation and divorce. Help create a financial separation that helps families establish themselves in two homes, and a parenting plan with the needs of the family unit and children at its heart.

The Divorce Studio is my contribution to helping couples achieve all of that with a focus on families and without lawyers or nasty fights.

An Australian first, it sets out the steps you need to take to create closure in your relationship story. It provides the advice you need with clear directions to navigate you from where you are today to where you want to be in the future, after separation.

The Divorce Studio is about more than just explaining the steps to a property settlement. It gives the steps to achieving the life you hope for yourself and your family in the future. Yes, you need documents, parenting and property orders, but most of all you need positive, family focused, low conflict outcomes.

We’re here for you, ready to help.
